Healed Part 3: Healing from Within
Mark 5:25–34 NKJV
Scripture
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.”
— Mark 5:25–27 NKJV
Series Reminder
God desires for us to be healed and made whole. Some wounds are visible. Others are hidden deep within. This message reminds us that Jesus can heal the places people cannot see.
Our 2026 vision is All Things New.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
— II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Declaration: “I’m becoming who God wants me to be.”
Introduction
Jesus had crossed back over the sea. Jairus, a ruler of the synagogue, came to Him because his daughter was dying. As Jesus walked with Jairus, a woman in the crowd pressed toward Him.
She had been sick for twelve years. She had spent all she had. She had suffered under many physicians. She was worse instead of better.
But when she heard about Jesus, hope rose in her again.
1. She Was Hurting Within
“Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.”
— Mark 5:25–26 NKJV
This woman was hurting in more than one way.
She was hurting physically. She had a chronic issue of blood for twelve years. Her body was weak. Her strength was fading. Her life was under pressure every day.
She was hurting financially. She spent everything she had trying to get better. Some of us know that pain. Doctor visits cost money. Medicine costs money. Treatment costs money. Sometimes the bill comes before the healing does.
She was hurting socially. Under the law, her condition made her unclean. She could not move freely among people. Her sickness affected where she could go, who could touch her, and how others treated her.
Sickness can become lonely. Pain can make you feel unseen. Sometimes people pull away when you need them most.
But Jesus saw her.
Reflection Questions
- What pain have I carried longer than I expected?
- Has my physical, emotional, or spiritual condition caused me to feel isolated?
- Where do I need to be honest with God about how much I am hurting?
Personal Challenge
This week, name the place where you are hurting. Write it down. Pray over it. Ask God to meet you there with healing, wisdom, and strength.
2. She Was Hoping Within
“When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. For she said, ‘If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.’”
— Mark 5:27–28 NKJV
This woman heard about Jesus.
She heard about the One who healed the sick.
She heard about the One who cast out demons.
She heard about the One who touched lepers.
She heard enough to believe.
Her situation had not changed in twelve years, but her hope came alive when she heard about Jesus.
Faith still comes by hearing.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
— Romans 10:17 NKJV
She could not see her healing yet, but she could see Jesus. So she moved toward Him.
That is what hope does. Hope keeps your eyes on Jesus while healing is still ahead of you.
“But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.”
— Romans 8:25 NKJV
Sometimes we lose hope because we stare at the problem too long. We look at the report. We look at the symptoms. We look at the cost. We look at the years.
This woman looked toward Jesus.
Reflection Questions
- What have I been watching more than I have been watching Jesus?
- What testimony about Jesus has strengthened my faith?
- Do my daily choices show that I still have hope?
Personal Challenge
Choose one area where you need healing. Take one step toward Jesus in that area this week. Pray. Fast. Ask for help. Make the appointment. Change the habit. Start moving.
3. She Reached from Within
“When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.”
— Mark 5:27 NKJV
This woman did more than think about healing. She acted on her faith.
She pressed through the crowd.
She pushed past fear.
She pushed past shame.
She pushed past disappointment.
She reached for Jesus.
She did not need a long speech. She did not need to be seen by everybody. She just needed to touch Jesus.
Faith reaches.
Faith does something.
“Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”
— James 2:17 NKJV
Some healing requires a reach. You may have to reach beyond pride. Reach beyond embarrassment. Reach beyond old excuses. Reach beyond what people think.
The woman’s reach came from a deep place. She was tired of suffering. She believed Jesus could make her whole.
Reflection Questions
- What crowd am I allowing to stand between me and Jesus?
- What fear keeps me from reaching for healing?
- What step of faith have I delayed?
Personal Challenge
Do one faith-filled action this week that matches what you are asking God to heal. Let your faith move from thought to action.
4. She Was Healed Within
“Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.”
— Mark 5:29 NKJV
The healing happened immediately.
The issue that had flowed for twelve years dried up. The pain that had drained her stopped. She felt healing in her body.
Then Jesus stopped and asked, “Who touched My clothes?”
The disciples were confused because the crowd was pressing against Him. But Jesus knew this touch was different. This was a touch of faith.
“And He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.’”
— Mark 5:34 NKJV
Jesus called her “Daughter.”
That word mattered.
She had been treated as unclean. Jesus called her family. She came seeking healing in her body, and Jesus gave peace to her soul.
Jesus healed more than the bleeding. He restored her dignity. He restored her peace. He restored her place.
Reflection Questions
- Do I believe Jesus can heal what has been draining me?
- Where do I need Jesus to restore my peace?
- What would it mean for me to see myself as God’s beloved child?
Personal Challenge
Pray Mark 5:34 over your life this week. Ask God to help you receive healing, peace, and a renewed sense of belonging.
Closing Thought
This woman was hurting within.
She was hoping within.
She reached from within.
Jesus healed her within.
You may have carried something for years. Jesus is still able.
Keep your eyes on Him.
Press toward Him.
Reach for Him in faith.
Healing is still possible.
Invitation
God created you and loves you. But sin separated us from Him. God’s love is stronger than sin. Because of His love, God sent His Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins.
If you are ready to trust Him, pray:
“God, thank You for creating me and loving me. I realize I have sinned and been separated from You. I ask You to forgive me. I believe You sent Jesus to die and pay the penalty for my sins. I believe He rose from the dead. I confess Jesus as Lord of my life and Savior of my soul. I repent of my sins and ask that You send Your Holy Spirit into my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
